SAWi is working to showcase top South African Wines in a way which could
no longer be ignored by the world. This is done by coupling a quality
overview points score, derived from multi-national multi-vintage wine
awards to a bottle of wine.
This approach provides a much more credible quality attestation of wines with the aim not only to acknowledge but, present the amateur as well as the connoisseur with real excellence in South African wine production.

In this group there are 14 wines from the Stellenbosch area with the rest of SA’ Terroir wine pockets still well represented. Overall, Chardonnay and Shiraz represent almost 30% of these awards. Of note is that the majority of these wines wines were only matured for up to 18 months.
Trophy, Top Cellar, Top Wine, Wine Maker and Farm Manager of the year and the SAWi Wine Legend Honours will be announced at a gala event at the luxurious Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa in Camps Bay on 22 August 2012. A list of South African ‘Grand Wines’ which will be representative of all wines irrespective of participation in the Index, will be announced after the awards.
