Meerlust Rubicon 1996

The wine has a deep inky, plum color with a bright ruby, almost purple rim. The nose has a pronounced spicy and grassy bouquet, with hints of plum and brambles as well as smokey, cedar-wood perfume. The palate is still youthful with soft, fleshy fruit and firm tannins. It is showing a fresh fruit acidity which will allow the wine to age well as well as being a good accompaniment to fine cuisine.
