Crusty White Farm Bread Print E-mail

"It's all in the hands. If the Lord is willing, He will bless your hands and the dough will rise beautifully"

slices of crusty farm bread and butter

  • 2 Table spoons of sunflower oil
  • 10 g yeast powder
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2.5 kg white bread flour
  • 1.5 litres of luke warm water
  • ½  teaspoon honey

Method

Mix together all the ingredients into a dough, working into a thick, consistency. Don't be alarmed at the weight of the dough; white bread is heavier than that of brown bread. Once it is a wet sticky mixture, leave it in a warm place, such as a prewarmed oven, for a few hours to rise.

If the dough still looks wet, knead the moisture out with your hands. Return it to the warm place until it has risen again, then transfer it to a greased loaf pan and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 25 minutes.
