SOIL TYPE
Decomposed granite mixed with clay
VINIFICATION
After fermentation in open steel tanks, the wine underwent secondary malo-lactic fermentation. Before barrelling the wine was blended, 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. Matured for 18 months in small casks of new French oak. Followed by 24 months of bottle maturation before release.
TASTING NOTES
Mature deep ruby core with amber rim. Complex nose of cassis and nettle-berry fruit with pronounced tobacco, cigar-box and savoury bouquet. Very complex and mature palate, still full bodied with unctuous fruit, mineral and savoury flavours balanced by ultra-fine, linear and silky tannins. Very classical but offering a richness and suppleness typical of fully mature Rubicon.
